Walk About in Westminster
Thalia and Janice caught the no 507 bus from Waterloo station to Victoria to re visit the area where their grandparents Harry Bird and Gertrude Goldsmith lived in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Much of the area remains the same today.

Over Lambeth Bridge | |

We looked back at St Mary's Parish Church Lambeth where Charles Leonard Goldsmith married his first wife Elizabeth, who sadly died and then as a widower to our great grandmother Clara Ann Selina Clarke |
We walked for a little while until we arrived at Vauxhall Bridge Road in front of the shops where Harry and Gertrude had their Confectioners at no 215. The back of the shops had a bad reputation in the early 1900's, see Booth Surveys of Victorian London. Both Lilian and Norman were born there, Mary Ann gave the premises as her address when she married in 1912. Perhaps Dorothy lived there too? |

We then wandered back towards Greycoat Place and passed Esher Street (now demolished) where Harry's parents lived at no 18 and Thora Bird was born |

We then arrived outside Greycoat Hospital School where Gertrude, Bertha and other female family members had been pupils |
